Anna Thompson is currently a Resident Artist at the Academy of Vocal Arts. She holds a M.M. from Rice University and a B.M. from the Eastman School of Music. Next season, she joins the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera. Recent roles include Countess Madeleine (Capriccio), Countess Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Alcina (Alcina), Marie Antoinette (The Ghosts of Versailles), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Female Chorus (cover) (The Rape of Lucretia), and Mary Johnson (cover) (Fellow Travelers). In concert, she recently made her Carnegie Hall debut with the American Symphony Orchestra (Niagara Symphony) and debuted with the Bard Music Festival (Mariken de NimΓ¨gue). Anna is a 2026 Grand Finals Winner of The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. She has also been recognized with the Top Prize at the Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition, a George & Nora London Foundation Award, a Sullivan Foundation Award, 3rd Place at the Dallas Opera National Vocal Competition, and the Judges’ Special Prize at the Gerda Lissner Foundation Art Song Competition. This summer, she joins the Merola Opera Program. She is an alumna of the Apprentice Program for Singers at The Santa Fe Opera, the Gerdine Young Artist Program at Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Aspen Music Festival & School, and the Seagle Festival.
